On January 20 an overflowing toilet in an upstairs tenants apartment closed Black Market Boutique indefinitely. Since the accident, I have chosen to vacate the building at 2010 N State while the landlord chooses how to proceed with repairing the water damage and asbestos remediation.
Its been a fabulous five years serving Bellingham’s most eccentric fashion needs! I’m still in love with vintage clothing and costumes, and am excited to reinvent my business in a new context. On Saturday March 28th and Sunday the 29th I will be having a big garage sale at my new warehouse in the Sunset Pond Business Park, selling off fixtures and other retail accouterments.
I am also planning several other themed shopping events for spring and summer in and around Bellingham. You can subscribe to our email list on the left hand side of the page if you want notifications about events! I will still be buying vintage, with a focus on online and special event sales, so email or facebook message me if you like. I am also interested in collaborative projects, good ideas, etc. so don’t hesitate to reach out if you feel the whim. Hopefully I will have my phone reinstalled in the next few days, we will have the same phone number we have always had 360-756-9440.
I’ve always been good at change. I feel really positive about what the future holds, and downright excited about what a truly “underground” Black Market Boutique will look like. Private shopping parties? Personal shopping? Exciting new online adventures? Inside the industry photo blog? Fashion shows? Design collaborations?
I will always feel proud of what I built at the corner of State and James. It was beautiful, immersive, and full to the brim with joy and creativity. I loved every day there, but that does not make this big change a tragedy. Its an opportunity for me to dust off my business plan, and begin building something else amazing! Not knowing exactly what that will be is half the fun.
Thank you, to everyone who was been involved in Black Market Boutique, customers, consignors, friends, artists, and employees.
I will be contacting current consignors over the course of March as I dismantle the epic pile of stuff in my warehouse. Please be patient and understanding, but don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions. email@example.com
